Ancient Janggo of Endurance is the new perfect starter item for Rexxar's core. It upgrades an already useful Bracer into a beast item that will grant early damage and extra movement speed to you and your minions. It's relatively cheap and builds up really fast.

Necronomicon is pretty much the base of your Core build. It grants Strength and Intelligence, the two you need the most. The necro-spawns give you an extra push in the Movement Speed area and will give you a 35 second True Sight. Crucial against matchups with invisible heroes.

Kelen's Dagger provides you the ability to initiate easier. Combined with your Hawk's vision, you can blink into unexpected areas by the enemy. You can surprise gank wandering enemies or blink in to disable an enemy initiator right before a teamfight.

Shiva's Guard
Shiva's Guard is an alternate source of armor, which Rexxar lacks mid/late game. Also, it's -AS aura will help against late DPS heroes and it's Arctic Blast will ensure kills in team fights.
Rexxar Item Build DotA
Heart of Tarrasque is pretty simple. Best raw HP item in the game. You would probably stop getting items after this point, coupled with Shiva's Guard, it's the most you should get in the protection department. You can forget about going to fountain for regen.
